If we talk about an artist who has broken down barriers by changing stereotypes imposed by society, this is Frida Kahlo. A Mexican artist, who revolutionized art in the mid-twentieth century, with self-portraits paintings describing her physical and sentimental pain.
In my case, I admire Diego Rivera’s art, who was Frida Kahlo’s sentimental partner. Also, I love Frida and during some travels in Latin America, I could notice Frida is present in either a portrait or a phrase in a city. Therefore, she is a feminine symbol that represents: Freedom, honesty, art, struggle, rebellion, culture and pain.
Likewise, Diego Rivera captured Frida Kahlo in some of his paintings.

Nowadays, she is an important part of the Latin American culture because of her work. Her legacy has also been reflected in South America idiosyncrasy and different places of its cities and thoughts.
For instance, I found at the Metro of Mexico City in 2016, a phrase which represents Frida for the people: “I’m two Fridas in an afternoon at Alameda”.
I found Frida’s image as well in a neighborhood of Valparaiso, Chile in 2018. On a wall, she was painted among other images. I like so much that image, so I took a photo as a souvenir, you can see it below.
