The filet mignon is a French recipe, which means tender fillet. It is considered the most elegant of all the steak cuts since it is very soft, sweet and juicy. In France, beef is replaced by pork meat, because originally the filet mignon refers to pork tenderloin. Although it can also be prepared with beef. This dish is worldwide popular being part of haute cuisine restaurants in many countries.
Filet mignon recipe
I am going to teach you how to prepare this recipe with beef.
For 4 servings
- 800 gr. from beef tenderloin
- 8 strips of smoked bacon
- 1/2 red pepper in thin strips
- 2 julienne leeks
- 1 julienne onion
- 2 carrots cut into a julienne
- 1/4 cauliflower
- 2 tablespoons cream cheese
- 2 tablespoons grated Parmesan cheese
- 100 ml. of milk cream
- 1/2 cup of beef broth
- 2 cloves of minced garlic
- A handful of parsley
- 4 tablespoons of water
- Olive oil
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 200 gr. of mushrooms cut into slices
Filet mignon preparation
In a pan put some oil, butter, 3 tablespoons of water and salt and pepper. Put it on the fire and when it is hot, add onion, paprika, leeks, cauliflower, carrot, garlic, parsley, mushrooms, thyme, curry and beef broth. Mix and let cook all the ingredients. After ingredients are cooked, add the cream cheese, the cream of milk and the parmesan cheese. Mix everything and leave covered.
Besides, divide the loin into 4 slices of equal size, with approximately 3 cm in height. Then, you can cover every slice with the bacon strips, placing chopsticks into the meat to assure consistency.
Place a frying pan with a little olive oil and butter. Add salt and pepper to the meat slices and place them on the pan to fry. Then they are removed from the fire and placed in a container suitable for the oven, where they are placed at a temperature of 180 °C for 15 minutes.
Finally, meat slices are served with hot sauce. You can accompany them with mashed or steamed potatoes.
