It is a very nice place with many attractions to visit. Among these, many prestigious universities, such as Harvard University; and important museums of history, art, science and technology. Boston is characterized by its organization, security, beauty, incredible nightlife and gastronomy. You can find some international cuisine, for my opinion Irish food is the best. Likewise, its sea food is also delicious and prepared in many different ways.
Boston travel guide
I made a trip to Boston with 4 friends, in 2014. We went from New York to our destination. During our stay of 7 days in Boston we visited many universities, museums, squares, bars, restaurants, shops, parks and the aquarium. All these places were fascinating, full of elegance, history and culture of the United States. What I liked most about the city was the architectural style of the buildings. Below, you can find the Boston travel guide including tourist sites, and other activities.
Tourist sites of Boston
Our tour of this beautiful city began hiking on the banks of the Charles River. We enjoyed it very much since it was spring. The place is fantastic to breathe fresh air and see the leafy trees. In the other side of the river, we can find Harvard University and MIT (Massachusetts Institute of Technology).
It is located in Cambridge, Massachusetts, very close to the city of Boston. From Boston Common Park, we took a tour to Harvard University campus. There, the first thing we saw was the Old yard, which is a beautiful garden surrounded by many buildings. We visited the Harvard Museum of Natural History. There are large fossils, such as dinosaurs and mammals. It is nice to see them since you can understand the evolution of the planet. In addition, there is an exhibition of crystal flowers, almost seem real, being a great innovation among the museums of the city.
As a curiosity, the guide told us that the Annenberg dining room on campus is similar to that of Harry Potter’s Hogwarts castle. He also told us that one of the buildings was the inspiration for the scenery of Hogwarts Castle.
At Harvard University you can take beautiful pictures of the buildings. However, without a doubt the best place is at the University Hall. This is the center of the campus and there you will find the statue of John Harvard, the founder of the university. A picture of this statue is something typical when you visit the campus. At the end of the tour, we went to buy some souvenirs and details related to the university and the museums.
MIT (Massachusetts Institute of Technology)
This institute is located in Cambridge, Massachusetts. This is an engineering school listed as the best in the United States. A beautiful campus, whose main construction is characterized by a dome and several columns. These architectural details make the institute a very pleasant place for visitors.
The Institute has also a museum, a place where the technological and research advances are exposed. On the second floor of the museum, there is a photography exhibition showing the technological and scientific discoveries.
It is a very nice square in the center of the city. There, you can find some international cuisine restaurants and fast food. It is a place with enough movement of people that is characterized by the performance street. In our visit a guy played the saxophone, the piano while singing. He had a great talent.
It is a high obelisk, commemorating the Battle of the same name, located in Charlestown, Massachusetts. I visited him when we took the tour to Harvard University. I was quite impressed by its height.
It is a park in the center of the city of Boston. The place is not very big but has many green areas; it is very well preserved and clean. This park is ideal for walking and getting in touch with nature. We couldn’t picnic, even though it would have been great. This park was the meeting point for the city tour. I enjoyed with the squirrels; they are very playful and they are not afraid of people. I also loved the ducks that swam on the beautiful lake. I highly recommend this site, for its tranquility and pure air.
This is a tour of approximately 2 hours by many historical places of the city of Boston. Our starting point was the visitor center, located in the Boston Common Park. Then, we were at the Massachusetts State House. Its construction has a golden dome. However, we didn’t get into the building, but we took pictures outside.
Furthermore, we visit other places, such as: Park Street Church, which is a nice church and has a high bell tower; Granary Burying Ground, it is a cemetery in the center of the city; The Old State House of Boston, it is a building with an extraordinary architecture; Faneuil Hall, that is located next to Quincy Market.
New England Aquarium
This place was one of my favorites from the whole trip. It is huge with many water species. There is a huge tank with coral reefs and many animals. For example: Stripes, sharks, turtles, fish, etc. There are some divers entering the tank and feeding the animals by hand. You can observe the entire tank taking a downward spiraling path. So, you can see all the animals from the top to the bottom of the tank. In the aquarium there are some species of penguins, which present an unforgettable spectacle.
In the same way, there is a training show of sea lions. There are also some activities to teach how to protect aquatic animals from climate change. Without a doubt it is a very valuable place whose purpose is the conservation of oceans and species.
We were in Middlesex, in this lounge the atmosphere is great and you enjoy a lot. They have a good mix of all kinds of music and on Fridays they have some live shows.

To take into account
If you arrive in Boston by plane you should take some transport to downtown, because the airport is on a peninsula. You can go by metro, by boat-taxi, bus or taxi.
There are three main stations in the Boston Metro, these have connections to the rest of the city. These are: South station, Back Bay and North station.
At metro stations you can buy and recharge the Charlie card. With this, you have special prices on the tickets.
